Error description

  • In high-load scenarios, instrumentation can use large amount of
    memory. In a memory-heap dump, the following class shows as
    taking a very large portion of memory, possibly up to 90%.

    To avoid this situation, you might try to disable the
    instrumentation. However, IBM Business Process Manager (BPM)
    instrumentation and the collection of IBM BPM runtime statistics
    cannot be disabled.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • No additional information is available.

Problem conclusion

  • A fix is available for IBM BPM V8.5.7.0 that allows you to
    disable IBM BPM instrumentation and the collection of IBM BPM
    runtime statistics. IBM BPM instrumentation as well as the
    collection of IBM BPM runtime statistics are enabled or disabled
    separately for IBM Process Server, IBM Process Center, and the
    Performance Data Warehouse server.

    To disable IBM BPM instrumentation for Process Server or Process
    Center, add the following setting to the 100Custom.xml file in
    the process-server or process-center configuration directory.
    For the Performance Data Warehouse server, do the same in the
    performance-data-warehouse configuration directory:

     <server>
       <enable-instrumentation merge="replace">false
       </enable-instrumentation>
     </server>

    When no such setting exists or is set to true, the IBM BPM
    instrumentation is enabled for the appropriate server.

    To disable collection of IBM BPM runtime statistics for Process
    Server or Process Center, add the following setting to the
    100Custom.xml file in the process-server or process-center
    configuration directory. For the Performance Data Warehouse
    server, do the same in the performance-data-warehouse
    configuration directory:

     <server>
       <collect-runtime-stats merge="replace">false
       </collect-runtime-stats>
     </server>

    When no such setting exists or is set to true, the collection of
    the IBM BPM runtime statistics is enabled for the appropriate
    server.
