Error description

  • When you use an Email Template to send a marketing email message
    to a shopper, the master catalog ID is used in the links to
    products or categories that are included in the email content.
    These links do not work properly if the product or category is
    from a sales catalog.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
    Websphere Commerce Version 7 or Version 8 users who use
    Marketing Email Templates.

    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
    Marketing email templates generate incorrect URLs

    BUSINESS IMPACT:
    Shoppers might be redirected to the wrong catalog when clicking
    on recommendation links that are included in marketing emails.

    RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the <e-mail:Link> tag to use the catalogId that is
    associated with the store's default catalog. If no default
    catalog is specified for the store, then the store's master
    catalog is used.

    In some scenarios, the business user might want to manually
    specify which catalogId to use in the links. A new optional flag
     named "overrideCatalogId" was added to the "Display catalog
    entry", "Display category", "Issue Coupon", "Add to shopping
    cart", and "Add to wish list" predefined click actions.

    This flag allows the business user to specify which catalog ID
    to use in the email links, and will override the logic to use
    the default or master catalog.

    For example: <e-mail:Link type="category" categoryId="10034"
    name="Dairy" emailaction="0" linkname=""
    overrideCatalogId="10001" useHttp="false"/>.
