Error description
When an active shipping promotion targets the "pick up in store" shipping method, shoppers are not qualified for the promotion even if they select the targeted "pick up in store" shipping method. A Null Pointer Exception similar to the following might be seen in the trace.log: [9/11/15 16:05:25:295 CEST] 00000036 ShippingModeF 3 com.ibm.commerce.marketing.promotion.condition.ShippingModeFilte r filter java.lang.NullPointerException

Problem summary
USERS AFFECTED: WebSphere Commerce V7 users who use shipping-level promotions that targets "pick up in store" shipping method. PROBLEM ABSTRACT: Shipping promotions that target the "pick up in store" shipping method are not applied to an order BUSINESS IMPACT: Shoppers will not be able to redeem in-store pickup promotions. RECOMMENDATION:
Problem conclusion
The root cause of this problem is that in-store pickup does not use a shipping carrier (i.e. since it is in person pickup) so the CARRIER column is set to null in the SHIPMODE table. The shipping filter was changed to properly handle the "null" value.
