APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • There are two separate issues that occur because the
EXPRESSION table is not populated or not populated correctly:

    1. Loading catalog filter data with the Data Load utility
succeeds but the related table "EXPRESSION" is not populated
if you create a catalog filter with Management Center.

    2. Re-generating the EXPRESSION table causes errors and prevents
users from successfully migrating from Feature Pack 1-6 to
    Feature Pack 8.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • CatalogFilterMediator Does not populate related table EXPRESSION

Problem conclusion

  • Here is the final official solution which apply to the three
    customer of yours:

    1. We will ship APAR to contain three parts:
The fix to the database update exception when generating
    catalog filter expression
The fix to correct the behavior, now before re-generating the
expression, we will first delete all existing ones
The enhancement to make the task could be run independently
and multiple times whenever customer have the needs to
regenerate expression, so to dataload, or to migration, the
steps are identical, no customization is needed.

    2. We will publish the steps to KC regarding when and how to
leverage setupSearchIndex framework to resolve such kind of
    issue.

A new action "configWCScheduleforCatalogFilter" is created to do
pre-compilation of catalog filter expression to database, this
expression record will be used by search server to do
entitlement. When customer who used catalog filter feature are
migrating from FEP6 to FEP7+, or when customer are dataloading
catalog filter, they need do the following step to regenerate
    catalog filter expression:

Run setupSearchIndex with the new action
    configWCScheduleforCatalogFilter following the guide:

    https://knowledgecenters.hursley.ibm.com/ecd-internal/#!/SSZLC2_
    7.0.0/com.ibm.commerce.admin.doc/refs/rsdsearchindexsetup.htm

    Sample:
setupSearchIndex -instance demo -dbtype xxx -dbuser xxx
    -dbuserpwd xxxxx -masterCatalogId xxxxx -action
    configWCScheduleforCatalogFilter
