APAR status

Error description

  • When extraparmsMap="${analyticsMap}" is added to the  <cm:order>
    tag in biConfig.xml and PayPal Express is used as the payment
    method, a guest checkout will appear to work as far as
    confirmation of the payment, then will return to the receipt
    page with an error at the bottom of the page, such as:
    
      "The store has encountered a problem processing the last
    request. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your
    site administrator."
    
     AND/OR
    
     an exception similar to the following may appear in the logs:

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
     Customer who leverage PayPal and have enabled the Analytics tag
    cm:order (with extraparmsMap="${analyticsMap}") to capture data
    
     PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
     OrderShippingBillingConfirmationPage shows error if Paypal is
    used as mode of payment and analytics is enabled
    
     BUSINESS IMPACT:
     Shoppers who use the PayPal payment method may be unable to
    complete their order.
    
     RECOMMENDATION:
    

Problem conclusion

  • When paying with non-traditional methods (such as the PayPal
    customization), some information about the user may not be
    available through WebSphere Commerce, such as customer address.
    Additional checks were added to allow for the normal processing
    of the order when this information is missing.
