Error description

  • The <web-messaging-push enabled="true"> flag in the
100Custom.xml file can be set to "false" to stop the server from
sending a notification to the browser clients. However, it does
not turn off cometD HTTP POSTs that occur when you log in to
IBM Process Portal. These POST calls can cause performance
degradation if large amounts of data is transferred between the
    client and server.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Setting the <web-messaging-push enabled="false"> flag in the
100Custom.xml file disables notifications from the server to the
browser clients but does not disable cometD HTTP POST requests
from the browser clients to the server (to subscribe to the
    notifications).

Problem conclusion

  • A fix for IBM BPM V8.0.1.1, V8.0.1.2, and V8.5.0.0 is available
that allows you to suppress cometD HTTP POST requests by
    disabling the <web-messaging-push enabled="false"> flag.
Applying this fix does not stop the 30-second long-polling that
    CometD performs on regular intervals.
