APAR status

Error description

  • Dataload utility fails to load a product with assigned attribute
values when the product associated with those values had
previously been deleted. The assigned value attributes from the
product were not deleted from attrval and attrvaldesc tables
when the product was deleted, hence are referred to as orphan
attributes.

Local fix

  • Manually remove the attrval entries, and re-load them into the
database.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
 Anyone who uses the dataload utility to add/remove assigned
attribute dictionary attributes and products

 PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
 Dataload utility fails to load products when processing
previously orphaned attribute values.

 BUSINESS IMPACT:
 Cannot load a product which is previously deleted without IT
intervention.

 RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • Code is added for checking if the assigned attribute value is
orphaned.  If the value is orphaned  (no parent relationships
found) the attribute and value loading will be permitted.
