APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the text of marketing content contains specific unicode
  characters (for example, end of text character \u0003), and the
  content is propagated from the staging environment to the
  production environment, the code is unable to parse the
  characters. As a result, the content is not displayed in the
  e-Marketing Spot on the storefront.
  
  When this happens, an error similar to the following will appear
  in the logs:

  com.ibm.commerce.marketing.commands.marketingspot.RetrieveConten
  tTaskCmdImpl performExecute java.lang.RuntimeException: An
  invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x3) was found in the element

  This error occurs when the FilterContentCmdImpl is configured to
  be cached in the cachespec.xml

Problem conclusion

• This enhancement provides a configuration to allow business
  users to remove invalid unicode characters from their marketing
  content.
  For example, to remove the end of text unicode character, create
  the following entry in a custom marketing wc-admin-component.xml
  file :

             Provide a comma separated list of characters to
  remove when retrieving marketing content.
             This example shows the configuration to remove the
  end of text unicode character.
