JR43428: CMVC 223705 - PREVENT SPECIAL CHARACTERS FROM CAUSING JAVASCRIPT SYNTAX ERRORS WHEN DISPLAYED

APAR status

Error description

• In the WebSphere Commerce Organization Administration Console,
  while visiting the Select Member screen to generate an inclusion
  or exclusion member list, a Javascript error occurs indicating:
  "Expected ')'".  The error occurs due to a display issue where
  users with an apostrophe character in their name is not properly
  escaped, causing syntax errors in the Javascript code.
  

Local fix

• Remove the apostrophe character(s) from the Member that causes
  the error
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
  All users who have Members which have an apostrophes (or
  potentially other special character(s)) in their logon ID.
  
  PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
  Javascript syntax errors in the web browser when trying to view
  a user in the Select Member include or exclude lists via the
  Organization Administration Console when a user has an
  apostrophe character in their name.
  
  BUSINESS IMPACT:
  Administrators cannot access the Select Member screen while
  trying to perform certain configurations in the Organization
  Administration Console
  
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Fix should be available in the next fix pack
  

Problem conclusion

• The Javascript code has been updated to properly escape special
  characters, allowing these special characters to be rendered
  correctly and not cause Javascript parsing errors.
