Error description

  • When the input CSV file contains errors, WebSphere Commerce
Dataload utility reports some lines of CSV that have caused the
error, but does not allow the reprocessing of only those error
data records. A WebSphere Commerce administrator will need to
fix the original CSV file data and then repeat the process to
load the entire CSV file. When a large CSV file contains only a
few errors, it is time consuming for the user to reload the
complete CSV file. It would be more convenient to be able to
reprocess only the error CSV lines that have caused the failure.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
WebSphere Commerce V7 users who use the Dataload utility

    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
WebSphere Commerce Dataload utility lacks the ability to copy
error records to an output CSV file for re-processing.

    BUSINESS IMPACT:
Excessive time is spent determining which records are in error
    when using the Dataload utility.

    RECOMMENDATION:

Problem conclusion

  • The Dataload utility has been enhanced to provide an option to
capture all input CSV records in error into a separate CSV file
to be reprocessed. If the error count is set sufficiently high,
the user only needs to fix and re-load the generated "error" CSV
file containing the problem data records.

To enable the option, a WebSphere Commerce administrator will
need to add the following property in the file wc-dataload.xml
under <LoadOrder> or under <LoadItem> section:

            <_config:property name="createReprocessCSVFile"
    value="true" />

The default value for this property is false, meaning the
reprocess CSV file will not be created.

The reprocess CSV file will be created at the same location as
the input CSV file, with a name which is the original CSV file
name appended with "Reprocess". For example, if the original CSV
file is CatalogEntry.csv, the reprocess CSV file will be called
    CatalogEntryReprocess.csv.
