    7.0.0.9.

Problem summary

  • USERS AFFECTED:
Any WebSphere Commerce V7.0.0.0 customers who use 7.0.0.9 or
    above.

    PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
WebSphere Commerce V7 fails to send emails (e.g. a password
    reset
email) in a web 2.0 enabled sample store (e.g. Madison) after
    Application Server upgrade to 7.0.0.9.

    BUSINESS IMPACT:
Any email functionality, for example, the password reset mail
functionality, for a web 2.0 enabled sample store (for example,
the Madison store), in WebSphere Commerce V7 is impacted.

    RECOMMENDATION:
Subscribe to WebSphere Commerce notifications to keep up to date
with support updates. As per the following Information Center
    page:

Required and recommended fixes for WebSphere Commerce version 7
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wchelp/v7r0m0/index.jsp
    ?topic=/com.ibm.commerce.install.doc/refs/rigrecfix.htm

The minimum required level of WebSphere Application Server is
7.0.0.3. It is recommended to upgrade to WebSphere Commerce
v7.0.0.1 when running WebSphere Commerce with WebSphere
    Application Server 7.0.0.9.

You can apply WebSphere Commerce fixpack 7.0.0.1. if upgrade
WebSphere Application Server to Version 7.0.0.9 is required, or
    request APAR JR36472:

Problem conclusion

  • In WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.9, the interface class
    com.ibm.websphere.servlet.request.IRequest has been updated with
some new methods. This interface class was implemented by
Websphere Commerce. Updating this interface required the
    corresponding update in WebSphere Commerce.

In WebSphere Application Server 7.0.0.3, the implementation of
this class works fine. In 7.0.0.9, the implementation class
fails to initialize with the following exception:
    [4/29/10 13:56:53:602 CEST] 00000023 webapp E
    com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.webapp.WebApp logServletError SRVE0293E:
    [Servlet
    Error]-[/MadisonsStorefrontAssetStore/Messages/PasswordNotify.js
    p]:
    java.lang.AbstractMethodError:
    com/ibm/websphere/servlet/request/IRequest.isStartAsync()Z

The interim fix associated with this APAR resolves the problem
for WebSphere Commerce V7 to adapt to the WebSphere Application
    Server 7.0.0.9. implementation.
