Error description
If the install path specified in the response file has an ending backslash, '\', then a V9.5 DB2 Runtime Client silent installation using that response file fails with an error similar as the following: 1: ERROR:A DB2 copy, DB2COPY1, already exists at, C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB. Specify another location for your new installation. 1: ERROR:Unable to initialize the response file. The error is due to the ending backslash in the install path in the response file. The following is a sample response file that causes the install problem. PROD = RUNTIME_CLIENT LIC_AGREEMENT=ACCEPT FILE = C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\ INSTALL_TYPE = TYPICAL DB2_COPY_NAME = DB2COPY1 DEFAULT_COPY = YES CREATE_ICONS = YES REBOOT = NO KILL_PROCESSES = YES DEFAULT_INSTANCE=DB2 INSTANCE=DB2 DB2.NAME=DB2

Remove the backslash at the end of the install path: FILE = C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB
