Error description

  • This APAR addresses the update of the Microsoft Visual Studio
.Net C++ runtime libraries distributed with DB2 to implement
the DST changes affecting the use of the TZ environment variable
    in Windows.

At the end of February and beginning of March 2007, Microsoft
announced a series of hotfixes available in response to an issue
on the Windows operating system in which incorrect dates can be
received by windows applications that make use of the TZ
environment variable. While these hotfixes may be applied
manually on affected workstations, the base copies of
these specific libraries which are bundled with DB2 will be
udated in a future FixPak release.

NOTE: If your Windows workstation does not use the TZ
environment variable, these hotfixes are not required.

Note also that DB2 does not ship its own copy of the Microsoft
C-Runtime library, MSVCRT.DLL. Instead, portions of DB2 use the
    MSVCRT.DLL
from the default location of C:\Windows\System32. As such, if
your Windows workstation does use the TZ environment
variable, one will need to manually install the hotfix for
the Microsoft C-Runtime library KB932590, even if the fix for
    this APAR has been applied.

Local fix

  • To update Windows' msvcrt.dll you would need to download and
    apply KB932590 separately.

This APAR will update the Microsoft Visual Studio C-Runtime
    libraries (MSVCR70.DLL, MSVCR71.DLL)
that reside under SQLLIB\BIN up to the versions found in these
    DST hotfixes:
    VC 7.0 - KB932305
    VC 7.1 - KB932299
