Error description

  • After substitution of variable data in a message sent to the
    MSG2 log, messages can appear to be garbled.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Garbled messages in remote management server MSG2 log.
    
    Messages that are too long appear as garbage characters in the
    MSG2 log on a remote management server.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code has been changed to print a message which indicates that
    the intended message was too long.  Additional diagnostic data
    is also printed if ERROR tracing is enabled.
    
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
