Error description

  • APAR Type: Internal
    Approver Initials: BS
    Severity: 3
    Reported Release: 622
    Compid: 5724C04PS
    incorrect sit
    name
ABSTRACT: Edit situation from my acknowledged events
               shows incorrect situation name

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Selecting a row from the "My Acknowledge Events" view, then
selecting "Edit Situation" launches the situation editor with
showing the incorrect situation name in the Siuation editor
    tree.

The problem can only be seen when launching the TEP
situation editor from the "My acknowledged Event's
view" in the default enterprise workspace. The user
would have to first acknowledge an event to see a row
on the table view and then launch the situation editor
from that row in the table. This defect has been
present since V6.2.1 when situation long name support
    was added.

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:

    1. Create a Situation with a name that uses special
characters (dashes, colons, spaces). For example, I navigated
down to the "Disk" navigator item for a Linux OS Agent, then
right-clicked, did "Situations...", and created a Situation
named "test - lz:testing". I made sure it would always be true
(Mount point='/', and Disk space percent > 0).

    2. When the event goes true go to the default Enterprise
workspace, select the acknowledged event from the "My
acknowledged Event" view. Then select "Edit Situation". From
there the situation editor will be launched and showing the
    incorrect situation name.

Local fix

  • There are quite a few workarounds as the situation
editor in the TEP client has many launch points other
    than this one workspace view.

Problem summary

  • Incorrect situation name when editing situation from the Tivoli
Enterprise Portal "My Acknowledged Events" view.

From the Tivoli Enterprise Portal default enterprise workspace
"My Acknowledged Events" view launching the situation editor
shows the incorrect situation name. Selecting a row from this
view, right mouse clicking and selecting "Edit Situation" shows
the internal name of the situation instead of the correct
display name. This problem only happens if the situation name
    contains special characters.

Problem conclusion

  • Fixed the launch point for the situation editor dialog so it now
displays the correct name of the situation in the the editor
    tree.

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:

      | fix pack | 6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0006

Temporary fix

  • Launch the situation editor from the navigator tree or the tool
bar in order to get the correct situation name in the editor
    tree.
