    * Users of the SSM Hostres Sub-agent running on a Solaris 8 or *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * A gradual memory leak occurred when polling the hostres *
    * subagent. Memory usage for the process will increase without *
    * bound until the process terminates. The problem is caused by *
    * calling a system call, di_init in this zone configuration. *
    * This call seems to allocate memory that we cannot *
    * deallocate.                                                  *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    * Update to SSM Fix pack 12. *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • Introduced new INIVAR called HostresCallDiInit which can be set
    to off in the init.cfg file. Setting this to off prevents the
    subagent from calling di_init, preventing the leak.
