Error description

  • After making a change to the access control configuration on one
cluster member, the change is not picked up on any other cluster
members at the point a user logs in to the UI. This means, for
example, that if a user is added to a role, they will not
immediately have access to the UI perspective for that role
until another user performs an operation on that cluster member
to trigger synchronization of the access control configuration.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When changes have recently been made to the access control role
mapping configuration for WSRR running in a cluster environment,
the perspectives available to a user in the web UI might not be
updated if they were affected by the changes.

For example: A user belongs to the WSRRUser role and only has
access to the 'General User' perspective. The user is then
mapped to the 'Development' role, but when they next login to
the web UI, they are still only shown the 'General User'
perspective and are not given the option to select the
    'Development' perspective.

Problem conclusion

  • When the user login occurs, the access control configuration is
not refreshed from what is stored in the database. Therefore, if
the role mapping change was made on cluster member 1, a login to
cluster member 2 will not use the new role mapping.

A code change has now been made so that a check is made to see
if the access control configuration needs to be refreshed from
the database when the user login occurs. The configuration is
    refreshed if necessary.

This fix is targeted for inclusion in fix pack 4 for WSRR v7.0.
