  Abstract: UA Win:SCRIPT DataProvider STDERR thread may not
  terminate
  
  Environment:
    ITM 6.2.1 on Windows
  
  Problem Description:
    LogScriptStandardError thread not always terminating ... the
  Handle to STDERR is being closed prematurely by the parent
  thread of the LogScriptStandardError thread.
    Windows LogScriptStandardError thread has never worked - that
  is to say, it has never been able to read STDERR and forward
  STDERR messages to the DPLOG table.
  
  Detailed Recreation Procedure:
    Some kind of VBScript seems to cause this problem, but it's
  difficult for this problem to be recreated.

Problem summary

• SCRIPT Data Provider may not terminate STDERR thread, resulting
  in a handle leak.  This APAR only applies to UA running on a
  Windows platform using SCRIPT data provider.
  

Problem conclusion

• Universal Agent SCRIPT Data Provider was prematurely closing the
  STDERR handle. This exposed a possible zombie thread condition,
  where STDERR thread has blocked on a READ on STDERR handle
  waiting for data on STDERR pipe. Subsequently, SCRIPT Data
  Provider thread processes script's termination, closing the
  STDDERR handle. This leaves STDERR thread running in blocked
  state, thus the STDERR thread never terminates and the result is
  a handle leak.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is included in the following maintenance
