  * Users of the SSM 4.0 process monitor on Solaris.             *

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  * Occasionally the process monitor will be missing processes   *
  * or will drop processes for a sample. This may cause false    *
  * alarms to appear. This has been observed to happen on        *
  * Solaris. This is caused by the underlying process monitoring *
  * library sometime fails to get data for a particular process  *
  * as it uses non-blocking  IO.                                 *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  * Upgrade to Fix pack 12.                                      *
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• Changed monitor to be more resilient to missing a sample. If
  data is unavailable due to an error not assume that the process
  has terminated.
