    APAR Type: Field
    Approver Initials: MB
    Severity: 1
    Reported Release: 622
Compid: 5724C04PS Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server
ABSTRACT: Timespan icon missing from KT3 workspaces
    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

For the timespan icon to display, the HISTORY_OPTIONS property
    must be
set to true when the result is returned to the TEP Client.

The TEPS will set that option only if the UADVISOR situation
distribution intersects with the nodes that are assigned to the
workspace. In the case of KT3, the workspace will be assigned
    to a
subnode, but the UADVISOR is distributed to the managing agent.
    This
will not have an intersection, so the HISTORY_OPTIONS property
    will be
    set to false.

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Install ITM 6.2.2 fp2

    2. Install the T3 agent (7.2, then install fp1)
    3. Install ISM and define a service. (The recreate used http)
    4. Install the sql's given by dev using BuildPresentation.bat
    5. Turn collection on for all attributes for the T3 agent.
    Recreate also
    turned collection on for ISM
    6. Go to the workspace stated above in "Issues"
    7. Note that while the workspace by default shows the past 8
    hours,
there is no time span icon for any of the views.

Local fix

  • Without the TEPS fix given, user can utilize the Timespan lock
    Icon to view historical data.

With the TEPS fix installed, user will select the plot chart
view on top of the view to see the Time Span Icon.

Problem summary

  • For agents that have subnodes and managing agents (for example
KT3 and UA), the historical timespan button may not display when
historical collection is done at the managing agent.

When historical collection is done for subnode agents, the
UADVISOR situation is distributed to the managing agent. But
when the query is issued, it is assigned to subnode agent.
Since the managing agent is part of the nodes that the query is
assigned to, the test to determine if history is enabled will
fail and the historical timespan icon will not display.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was modified to ensure that if the query is for a
subnode agent, that the managing agent is included in the test
between the UADVISOR situations and the assigned nodes of the
    query.
