IZ79757: RTEMS SEEDING FAILS WITH EPHEMERAL OVER FIREWALL

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Seeding an RTEMS that is across a firewall from the HUB will
  fail either the firewall is NAT'd or ephemeral is explicitly
  set for the RTEMS connection.
  
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  
  Install a HUB TEMS and two RTEMS, all on Unix and/or Linux.
  Install the HUB and one RTEMS in the same lab
  Install the other RTEMS in a different lab, across a firewall.
  
  Configure both RTEMS using EPHEMERAL:Y as follows:
  1) Configure both RTEMS and then add EPHEMERAL:Y to beginning of
  the
     KDC_FAMILIES variable.
  -OR-
  2) Follow the instructions in
     http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21390561
  
  Start the HUB TEMS first, then the two RTEMS.
  Run itmcmd support -t TEMSNAME ux from each of the TEMS
  Review the logs and notice that the RTEMS from other lab across
  the
  firewall from the HUB failed seeding.  The cat and atr files
  were
  copied, but the sql processing was not successful.
  

Local fix

• Run kdstsns interactively
  

Problem summary

• Seeding a remote monitoring server that is across a firewall
  from the hub monitoring server will fail when either the
  firewall is NAT'd or ephemeral is explicitly set for the remote
  monitoring server connection.
  

Problem conclusion

• The seeding tool has been updated to allow it to work correctly
  when a remote monitoring server is across a firewall from the
  hub monitoring server.
