Error description

  • An 0xC0000005 exception (ACCESS_VIOLATION) occurred on a Windows
    2003 RTEMS whenever an AIX HTEMS would go down (ITM 6.2.2 FP01
    being used). Based on information found in the documentation,
    this is a storage overlay problem, which is covered by CMVC
    defect 124429. All documentation (crash dumps) showed a stack
    corruption with text data:
    WARNING: Frame IP not in any known module. Following frames may
    be wrong.

Problem summary

  • The management server terminates abnormally with an access
    violation error in function OpLogReader::SetMSG2EmitBuffer().

    The management server generates an "access violation" exception
    with the following call stack:

    #0  0x00000200006089e6 in memcpy () from /lib64/tls/libc.so.6
    #1  0x0000020004c4ec9e in OpLogReader::SetMSG2EmitBuffer () from
    /products/ITM621/ls3266/ms/lib/KRANDREG

    The exception occurs when the management server attempts to
    write a MSG2 message exceeding 255 characters into the
    management server OPLOG table.

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes were made to ensure that only 255 characters are
    written to the management server OPLOG table. If an agent
    generates a message exceeding 255 characters, the message will
    be truncated.
