APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • All tnserver processing halts and snatnsrvr_mt process defunct.
No core dump generated.

Local fix

  • cycle sna node.

Problem summary

  • The snatnsrvr_mt process dies (appears as <defunct> in the
process table). All TN3270 clients lose connection. The sna.err
log may record message 4102-75.

USERS AFFECTED: All users using the TN3270 Server function.
.
PROBLEM DETAILS: If a bad client connects and then sends some
telnet data (ASCII in this case) followed by the command "DO
ECHO", then when the TN Server code cleans up the session it
incorrectly tries to release some memory twice, causing the
snatnsrvr_mt process to crash and produce a core dump if core
dumps are enabled in the operating system.

Problem conclusion

  • The TN Server code has been corrected to
only release the memory one time following this error case.
