APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When we install the SSM we can choose to run on a port
  different
  from 161. In order not to conflict with MS SNMP or other snmp
  packages,
  customer have choosen to install SSM om port 1610. The services
  starts fine,
  but it is not possible to connect to it using the text console
  from the
  service controller

Problem summary

  USERS AFFECTED:
  All users of SSM 4.0.
  ****************************************************************
  PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  The SSM console is hardcoded to only connect to the port
  specified by the -p parameter or default to 161 otherwise. Thus
  installations configured for non-default ports make it
  impossible for the console shortcut in the Windows Start menu to
  select the correct port.
  ****************************************************************
  RECOMMENDATION:
  Upgrade to Fix Pack 9 for SSM 4.0.
  ****************************************************************
  

Problem conclusion

• The SSM console now defaults to whatever port is defined in
  ../config/init.cfg if any. This means starting the console from
  the Windows start menu or service controller will connect to the
  port number defined in init.cfg.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
