IZ63471: CINFO -R REPORTS INCORRECT INFORMATION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• cinfo -r reports agents as not running when the locally defined
  host
  name does not match the primary network defined name for the
  system IP
  address.
  
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  
  1) Install 621 agents, TEMS, TEPS
  2) Configure all installed components
  3) Change the local hostname so that it is not the same as the
  network
     (dns) name for the system.  This is not an issue of short
  name -vs-
     long name.  This is an issue of local = sally, network = bob.
  4) Start all agents and components.
  5) Run cinfo -r
  6) Verify that all agents are running using ps -fp <PID>,
     where <PID> is the PID numbers displayed in the runinfo -r
  output.
  7) Attempt to stop agent and components
  8) Notice that the stop attempts produce various forms fo "agent
  not
     running" messages
  9) Run cinfo -r
  

Local fix

• Change local host name or network primary host name definition
  so that they match.
  

Problem summary

• The cinfo -r command reports agents as not running when the
  locally defined host name does not match the primary network
  defined host name for the system IP address.
  

Problem conclusion

• Modify cinfo to check for both the local hostname and the
  primary network name while searching RunInfo for PID records.

Temporary fix

• 1) Modify the Name Service definition so that local host name,
  or short local host name, is the same as the first part of the
  primary network name or
  2) Modify the local host definition so that local host name, or
  short local host name, is the same as the first part of the
  primary network name.
