Error description

  • When stopping the TEMS or other components, you can get a
    message similar to the following:

KCIIN2525W The saved PID description [start] does not match the
    current
    running process description [/opt/IBM/ITM/aix536/ms/bin/cms
    start] for
PID [569478] for application product code [ms]. This means that
    unless
you use the [-n] flag (CLI mode only), it will not be stopped.
    This is
to prevent re-used PIDs from being killed and unintentionally
    stopping non-ITM processes.

This can be caused by the way the process list output is
parsed when the language is set to a non-english setting like
    sv_SE.

Run the command "ps -fp 569478 | more" to determine if this PID
has really been reused or not.

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:

Set the language on the test system to sv_SE on another
    non-english
language setting. Many non-english ISO language setting work
    correctly
so you may need to find one that fails if you do not use sv_SE.

Install a TEMS, TEPS, OS agent
    Configure them all
    Start them all
    View config/.ConfigData/RunInfo_Description

Determine if the *,description entry is different than the
    results of
ps -fp PIDNUMBER for each of the entries in the file.
If it is the same, you will not see the failure.

Local fix

  • If the result of "ps -fp PIDNUMBER" looks correct for the PID
    reported
by the "cinfo -r" command, you can remove that PIDNUMBER entry
    from the
config/.ConfigData/RunInfo_Description file and then stop the
    TEMS with
the "itmcmd server stop TEMSNAME" command.

Problem summary

  • The itmcmd agent command uses the output of the ps command to
parse the process information when stopping the agent. On a
non-English system, the result of ps is different than that of
an English system. The difference of the result makes the parse
    codes fail.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was modified to temporarily switch to English get the
results and then switch back to the original language.

The fix for this APAR is included in the following maintenance
    vehicle:
        | fix pack | 6.2.1-TIV-ITM-FP0002
        | fix pack | 6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0002

Temporary fix

  • Run the command "ps -fp thepid" to make sure that the PID is
really a running agent, then use the -n flag to force the agent
    to quit.
