Error description

  • If a user has only the MQSERIES application assigned as an
    allowed
application, they cannot see all systems in the physical tree
    that have
an MQSERIES agent. Only some systems are visible. The systems
    which
are not visible have multiple MQSERIES agents. If the user is
    assigned
another application that is installed on the missing system,
    such as an
OS agent, then the systems appear in the physical tree.

    Recreate:

    - set up a system with two MQSERIES agents, and another agent,
    such as
    an OS agent
    - create a user with only MQSERIES application assigned
    - log in as sysadmin, verify the system appears in the physical
    tree
    - log in as the MQSERIES user, the system does not appear in the
    tree

Local fix

  • Keep the OS agent as allowed application as well.

Problem summary

  • When a regular, non-subnode application node (for example,
Windows OS) is created in the physical topology, the node tells
it's parent host node what type of agent it is, and the parent
node will aggregate the affinities of all it's children into
it's own affinity. But applications that are based on subnodes,
and consequently have an application group folder between the
subnodes and the host node were not telling the host node what
agent type they are. So their affinity is left out of the host
node's affinity, and it is hidden for users that only have the
subnode application as an assigned application.

Problem conclusion

  • Added logic to allow subnodes to tell their host node what
    application type they are.
