DESCRIPTION:  The upper case method for z/OS can be optimized by
not using NLS translation routines.

Local fix

Problem summary


    

  • Column names for warehousing are being uppercased using
NLS routines that take into account the code page of the
machine.

The upper case of the column name using the toupper() function
fails on machines which are not English.  Based on the code page
the column can be translated to other NLS characters.  In this
case it was Turkish and the i was being uppercased to 0.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Coded a new algorithm to do upper case without having to call
toupper().


The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
packages:

Temporary fix


    

  • Work around is to set LC_ALL=C in the start script for the
agent.
