Error description
Communications Server for AIX, Version 6.3 ------------------------------------------ Calls to the CPI-C verbs XCMDSI, XCMESI, and XCMSSI fail with return code CM_PODUCT_SPECIFIC_ERROR when call from an application running on the Remote API Client on Windows.
Local fix
Problem summary
The problem is triggered by the parameter "key" for those calls. This parameter is documented as being ignored, but the Remote API Client code on Windows is rejecting the call if that parameter is not a pointer to a NULL. This problem affects the xcmdsi, xcmssi, and xcmesi calls in the Remote API Client on Windows. This problems affects the xcmesi call in server and clients on all platforms.
Problem conclusion
Code has been corrected to remove the check and to properly ignore the parameter as is documented. This change has already been made in the base level 6.4 version of the Remote API Client on Windows. No further updates are planned for the 6.2 version of the Remote API Client. Users of the Remote API Client are recommended to update to the 6.4 version of the client.
Temporary fix
Programmers should code this parameter as a pointer to a NULL string.
