APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Virtual memory for the process owning port 1920 grows without
  bound during http forwarding.  Any session interrupt before the
  entire entity is forwarded will orphan the buffers of the entire
  entity.  Processes owning port 1920 show unbounded VM growth
  until the process crashes due to process storage depletion.
  

Local fix

• Use IBM IIS for high-volume forwarding
  

Problem summary

• The virtual memory size of the process owning port 1920 grows
  without bound with IBM or Sun Java 1.6.
  
  The following RAS1 log message is an indication of this defect:
  "KDE1_FreeBuffer") Status 1DE0002F=KDE1_STC_INVALIDBUFFER
  

Problem conclusion

• The virtual memory size of the process owning TCP/IP port 1920
  grows without bound when ALL of the following conditions are
  true:
  
  1. The TEP client is started as a java web start application
  2. IBM or Sun Java v1.6 is the active JRE
  3. APAR OA23647 (via tepfp7 or tms_ctbs62fp1) is applied APAR
     OA23647, while opened for z/OS, applies to all Tivoli
     platforms.
  
  
  The Free buffer processing in "flush_buffer" has been corrected
  to perform a buffer release prior to exit.  Process
  synchronization issues between InBoundQueueManager and
  OutBoundQueueManager have been simplified and areas of buffer
  management have been locked and serialized.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:
