APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Environment:
    Windows at ITM 6.1 (no fixpacks) was upgraded to ITM 6.2 FP01.
    Problem:
    Users unable to view their own security details.  In ITM 6.2 FP1
    if I open Administer Users, select a user, select the "User
    Administration" authority item, and then give the user "View"
    permission but NOT "Modify", the user is not able to select and
    view their own permissions.  They don't see even their own
    userid under the list of users.  This used to work in ITM 6.1.
    Detailed Recreation Procedure:
     1)  Logon to teps with sysadmin
    
     2)  Go into administer users
    
     3)  Select any user
    
     4)  Go down to User Administration authority item and for the
    permission give "view", but not "modify".
    
     5)  Logoff with sysadmin and then logon with the userid that
    was changed.
    
    6)  Go to Administer Users and the result will be a blank screen
    for the Users as well as the Permission, Applications, Navigator
    Views, Member of tabs.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • A user having 'User Administration View' but not 'User
    Administration Modify' permission cannot view any user
    information, not even their own.
    
    
    On Windows, users created with lowercase names in the User
    Administration dialog could never view their own user
    information unless granted 'User Administration Modify'
    permission.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The logic was changed to use a case-insensitive unique user id
    when filtering the list of users being viewed by a user having
    only 'User Administration View' permission.  This restored the
    correct behavior of allowing such a user to view their own
    definition.  This method also worked correctly for
    case-sensitive systems like Linux.
    
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
