Error description

  • Sysres and Hostres subagents are too inefficient in getting CPU
kstat data on Solaris. The problems are:

Hostres: Reopens and refreshes kstat for every single CPU on
every sample.

Sysres: Refreshes kstat (kstat_chain_update) for every single
CPU on every sample (CSolarisProcessor::Update).

  • The kstat API was being used incorrectly, inefficiently or too
frequently, throughout hostres and sysres.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Re wrote the Solaris hostres+sysres processor code as well as
srSystemCPU* (all platforms).

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
packages:
