Error description

  • Inefficient use of regular expression matching is causes logmonx
    to use up to 100% CPU while monitoring high volume logfiles.

Problem summary

  • These performance issues seem to be caused by excessive regular
    expression matching and some sub-optimal buffering logic.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Optimized the buffering logic and reduced the number of regular
    expression matches that are required. This provided a
    significant improvement in CPU usage.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
