Error description

  • Problem Description:
The problem is that Visual Studio 2005 dataset wizard is
creating the stored procedures parameters in wrong order and
also all parameters are defined as Object dbType instead of the
    appropriate type.

    Problem Details:
When working with DB2 and Visual Studio.Net.
DB2 with Websphere Federation Sever version 9.1 fixpack 2 on
    Windows.

Using this VS wizard when we call a stored procedure(Existing
    SP), there are
    two problems.
1-The datatype attribute of the stored procedure
    parameters
just says 'object' ,instead of the actual parameter
    type.
2-The order of the parameters is incorrect.
Suppose i call a SP with parameters a,b,c in that order, and all
are of different datatype, but when i see the parameter that
are passed by VS Wizard(In the parameter collector editor) i
see the parameters are being passed in a different order say b,c
and a and the datatype being passed is object.instead of the
    actual datatype.

Local fix

  • 1. Create a new datasource for the SP with parameters
    2. Right click on the created datasource and select "Edit Data
    set with Designer"
    3. Click on the 'Fill' method on the designer and check its
    properties in the Property Window

    4. Click on drop down for the property Parameter with value as
    Collection
    5. It launches the dialog "Parameter Collection Editor", which
displays all parameters and proprties, select the actual
datatype of the parameter and change the order of the parameters
    by Up/down arrow keys.
    6. Click OK to save this setting
