APAR status

Error description

  • Environment:
    Single box installation on Windows - FP04
    
    Problem Description:
     A situation created as described below will still appear in
     "open" state from the "Situation Event Console" view even when
     when the situation itself has been deleted.
    
    Detailed Recreation Procedure:
    1. Create a new situation MY_MS_Offline starting from MS_Offline
       Formula:
       *IF *VALUE ManagedSystem.Status *EQ '*OFFLINE'
    
    2. Associate this situation to the "Enterprise" on the the TEP
    
    3. When the situation starts several entries in the "situation
       Event Console" will appear, one for each managed system
       offline.
    
    4. If the situation MY_MS_Offline is deleted all the
       entries in the "Situation Event Console" will remain there in
       apparent "open" state.
       No chance to refresh the status, unless environment is
       re-cycled.
       Moreover, when trying to acknowledge (or close) the event,
       a popup will appear with text:
    
       KFWITM016E "The event is closed and can no longer be
       acknowledged".

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Situations based on the Managed System table of the TEMS
    are handled differently by the TEPS. They are sent as
     "Meta Events".  When situations are deleted a reset event is
    created, but a check in the code bypassed type special
    processing for Meta Event type situations, causing the reset
    to be bypassed.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Identify situations that are of Meta Event type, and flag the
     reset as a Meta Event situation so that it can be processed.
    This APAR has been fixed and delivered in
    6.1.0.7-TIV-ITM-IF0001,  please visit the IBM Support Web
