IV90294: ALL CICS EXPLORER VIEWS BECAME GRAYED OUT AND DO NOT WORK ANYMORE WHEN USING A PARTICULAR WORKSPACE.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The workspace for your CICS Explorer somehow gets corrupted
    which causes the CICS views all become grayed out and
    non-selectable. A new workspace does not experience this
    problem and reinstalling the product does not resolve the
    issue.
    Additional Symptom(s) Search Keyword(s): KIXREVEPH
    Operations and Definition menu views grayed out after upgrading
    to v5.3.0.8.
    

Local fix

  • 1) Locate the broken workspace (should be the path in your CICS
    Explorer
    title bar)
    2) Using a file browser, browse to <workspace>
    \.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.e4.workbench
    3) Make sure Explorer is closed
    4) Copy the workbench.xmi file to workbench.xmi.bak
    5) Open the file workbench.xmi in a text editor
    6) Search in the file for the string "<addon" - this will find
    you the
    set of declared addons
    7) Add this line after the last addon:
    <addons xmi:id="_00yosOXqEeGugqEu_OWUGQ"
    elementId="org.eclipse.ui.workbench.addon.0"
    contributionURI="bundleclass://org.eclipse.e4.ui.workbench/org.e
    clipse.e
    4.ui.internal.workbench.addons.HandlerProcessingAddon"/>
    8) Save the file
    9) Start Explorer up again
    

Problem summary

  • After performing an update to CICS Explorer 5.3.0.8, if you
    continue using the same workspace as from before the upgrade,
    the list of resource tables in Operations and Definitions menus
    are greyed out. You cannot click on them to open the relevant
    view.
    

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Explorer is changed so the resource table menu options are
    no longer greyed out after upgrading to 5.3.0.8 and continuing
    to use an existing workspace. Clicking on a resource opens the
    relevant view.
    This fix will be made available in Version 5.3.0.9 of the CICS
    Explorer.
