IV89123: CICS AQUA (5.3) EXPLORER HAS LONG DELAYS PRODUCING SELECTION POPUP MENUS

Error description

  • CICS Explorer has long delays producing selection popup menus
    
    This is accompanied occasionally by message:
    CNX0593E: RESPONSE (NOT AVAILABLE) REASON(SCOPE)
    
    While connected to CMCI (a 5.1 CPSM/WUI), using the Context
    selector to pick ONE SINGLE CICS region running CICS v5.1,
    delays are seen in the following scenario (and possibly others):
    .
    1. Switch to URIMap tab
    2. Right-click the URIMap- menu delayed 7-8 seconds - disabled
    3. Right-click the URIMap- menu delayed 7-8 seconds - discarded
    4. Switch to the DocTemplate tab
    5. Right-click the DocTemplate- menu delayed 7-8 seconds -
    discarded
    6. Switched to the Program tab
    7. Right-click the DocTemplate- menu delayed 7-8 seconds -
    discarded
    .
    In each case, the popup selection menu is delayed by several
    seconds.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • CICS Explorer V5.3 taking a long time to display context pop-up
    menus to operate on several selected resources.
    

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Explorer has been changed internally to reduce the overhead
    associated with opening a context menu, thereby allowing the
    menu to be displayed in a timely fashion.
    This fix will be made available in Version 5.3.0.8 of the CICS
    Explorer.
