IV83285: OFFLINE SYSTEMS NOT GREYED OUT AFTER TEMS RECYCLE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When an agent is offline and the TEPS disconnects
    from the HUB TEMS followed by the TEPS connecting to the HUB
    TEMS again
    - in the navigator tree the child items associated with the
    offline
    agent are no longer greyed out.
    Clicking on the  child items results in the workspace pane
    displaying
    the message "KFWITM454E Request failed due to offline managed
    systems(s)".
    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
    1) Install ITM 6.3 Fixpack 6 TEPS
    2) Stop any agent and confirm the agent's child-items in the
    navigator
    tree becomes grey
    3) Stop the HUB TEMS
    4) Wait for the TEP client reports a connection failure
    5) Start the HUB TEMS
    6) Wait for the TEP client to reconnect
    7) Check the navigator tree for the offline Agent.  At this
    step we see
    the child-items are no longer grey.
    8) Click any child-item and confirm the workspace panes display
    the
    KFWITM454E message.
    

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When an agent is offline and the portal server disconnects from
    the HUB Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server followed by the TEPS
     connecting to the HUB Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server
    again, in the navigator tree, the chid items associated with the
     offline agent ar no longer gred out. Clicking on the child
    items results in the workspace pane displaying the message
    
    "KFWITM454E Request failed due to offline manage systems(s)".
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code was changed to apply the system status correctly after
    recycling of Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Server.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
