IV80564: INSTALL.SH ENDS WITH MESSAGE "INSTALL.SH FAILURE:"

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If kcirunas.cfg is missing from the install image, the
  install.sh script ends with this message:
  
     install.sh failure:
  
  This is caused by a typo in the script that prevents
  it from displaying the intended message:
  
     install.sh failure:  KCI1172E Cannot locate file
        "kcirunas.cfg" - please try the install again.
  

Local fix

• This problem only occurs if the installation
  image was improperly constructed or extracted
  after the fact. The immediate problem of the
  message is resolved by putting a copy of
  kcirunas.cfg onto the installation image in
  the same directory as install.sh. However, the
  rest of the installation image would obviously
  be in question.
  

Problem summary

• install.sh ends with "install.sh failure:".
  
  
  For a pristine install, if the installation image does not
  contain the file kcirunas.cfg, the install process ends with the
  message "install.sh failure".  There is no indication as to the
  nature of the failure.
  

Problem conclusion

• The code was changed to issue this message for the problem
  condition:
  
     install.sh warning:  File "kcirunas.cfg" does not exist on
  this installation image, continuing ...
  
  This condition does not prevent the installation from
  proceeding.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Contact the support team for the component in question and have
  them verify the installation image.  In the problem case, the
  user did not have a complete copy of the installation image.
  Downloading the installation image again resolved the symptom.
