IV79775: REMOTE UPDATE OF AGENTS SHOWS INPROGRESS

APAR status

Error description

  • Executing either the updateframework or updateagent commands
    against an
    Windows OS Agent will result in the installation of the upgrade
    package,
    yet the Deployment transaction continues to show the status
    INPROGRESS.
    
    The problem occurs when the Windows Agent, on its shutdown prior
    to the
    upgrade installation fails to send a Offline Heartbeat to the
    TEMS
    notifying it that the Agent is shutting down.
    
    This problem may also occur occasionally during the update of
    earlier
    versions of Windows Agents.
    
    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Install TEMS 630 FP6 Server
    2. Add Windows 630 FP4 (WIX64) Agent to TEMS Depot using
    addbundles
    3. Add Poodle patch 6.3.0-TIV-ITM-FP0004-IV68044 to the TEMS
    Depot using
    addbundles
    4. Manually install Windows 622 FP9 (WIX64) Agent on Windows
    endpoint
    and also install Windows 622 FP9 (WIX64) AC Package.
    5. Execute tacmd updateagent -n <MSN:NT> -t NT
    6. Observe successful update of AC component and no update of
    the NT
    Component; and the Deployment Status continues to show
    INPROGRESS
    
    Repeat steps 1,2,3 above. Replace step (4) above with the
    installation
    of only a Windows 630 FP4 (WIX64) Agent on Windows endpoint.
    Replace
    step (5) above with the Execution of the following command
    tacmd updateframework -n <MSN:NT> -v 063004364.  Observe
    application of
    the update, yet Deployment status continues to show INPROGRESS

  • Install packages locally.
