APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Compiling large applications with DWARF debug information using
  the -qdbgfmt=dwarf option is taking significantly longer time
  than when compiling the same applications with stabstring debug
  information.  Compiling may appear to hang as well.
  

Local fix

• Use stabstring debug information.
  

Problem summary

• PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Very long compile time, appearing as hanging.
  
  USERS AFFECTED:
  DWARF users with large source code.
  

Problem conclusion

• Usage of several internal compiler data structures are slowing
  down the compile time.  A fix was implemented and compile time
  is now faster.
