IV71647: TACMD SETAGENTCONNECTION FAILS TO REPOINT AGENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
  Specifying a parameter of PROTOCOL1=IP.PIPE for the command
  setagentconnection does not result in change in the target
  system's
  configuration.
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Install ITM TEMS 630 FP4 on Linux
  2. Install ITM 630 FP4 LZ Agent on Linux
  3. Configure LZ Agent to connect to TEMS
  4. Issue the following command to configure the LZ Agent to
  access a
  different TEMS Server
  
  tacmd setagentconnection -n endpoint:LZ -a -p SERVER=otherTEMS
  PROTOCOL1=IP.PIPE IP_PIPE_PORT=1918 BSERVER=otherBTEMS
  BPROTOCOL1=IP.PIPE BIP_PIPE_PORT=1918 BACKUP=Y
  
  5. Examine the envCfg.rsp file located in the
  $CANDLEHOME/tmaitm6/agentdepot directory on the target system
  and
  observe that the keyword NETWORKPROTOCOL is assigned to IP.PIPE
  and not
  ip.pipe.
  

Local fix

• Configure the endpoint agents locally to reference the new TEMS.
  

Problem summary

• Specifying a parameter of PROTOCOL1=IP.PIPE for the command
  setagentconnection does not result in change in the target
  system's configuration.  The configuration of the target system
  remains the same as before the command is issued.
  
  
  Parameters specified by the user for the command line command
  setagentconnection are not correctly parsed which may result in
  the command parameters not taking effect for the target agent.
  Fox example, specifying a parameter of PROTOCOL1=IP.PIPE for the
  command setagentconnection does not result in change in the
  target system's configuration.  The configuration of the target
  system remains the same as before the command is issued.
  

Problem conclusion

• Improved the parsing algorithm to correctly handle user
  specified parameters.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Do not specify the PROTOCOL1 value when assigning a SERVER.
  This will use the default settings.
