Error description

  • In a large environment with many thousands of agents, running
    the tmsdla utility can cause the TEMS to crash after several
    hours.
    
    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
    In a large environment with many thousands of agents (reproduced
    on system with 7500 agents), simply run the tmsdla.sh utility.
    The TEMS will crash after several hours.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • When running the tmsdla utility, the Tivoli Enterprise
    Monitoring Server memory usage increases and eventually crashes.
      This can take several hours to occur.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Modified the portal server code to properly delete request
    objects after they have been removed by the caller.  Also fixed
    a resource leak in the monitoring server when a create request
    operation fails.
    
    The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
