IV61036: TACMD DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS-949 CODEPAGE

IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.3.0 Fix Pack 4 (6.3.0-TIV-ITM-FP0004)

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The tacmd CLI user interface does not support the Windows-949
  codepage.
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Install Tivoli Monitoring 630 FP2 on Windows OS 2008 R2 with
  ko_KR Windows Language Installation Package
  2. Install Tivoli Storage Manager Agent (KSK) on a Windows
  target.
  3. Execute the following command to collect Historical
  Configuration Groups already configured by TEP for the endpoint.
  tacmd histconfiguregroups -u sysadmin -w Tsm2test -t KSK -o "KSK
  CLIENT NODE STORAGE" -i 1h -c 1h -d YQMWDH -p
  Y=7y,Q=2y,M=2y,W=6m,D=2m,H=14d,R=3m"
  4. Observe that the tacmd program does not return to the user
  after issueing the above command.
  

Local fix

• Specify en_US as the temporary Region/Language of the Windows
  machine to collect the information.
  

Problem summary

• The tacmd CLI user interface does not support the Windows-949
  codepage.
  
  
  If a user executes IBM Tivoli Monitoring Command Line commands,
  using tacmd,  on a Windows Operating System that is configured
  with the Korean Language pack installation the tacmd program
  does not return to the user.
  

Problem conclusion

• The IBM ICU 3.2 package does not recognized the Windows-949
  codepage as an IANA Codepage.  As a result, the
  NLS2_GetCodepageIANAName returns an empty result buffer with an
  error to the calling application, tacmd.  The tacmd program does
   not correctly handle the error condition, and abnormally
  terminates.
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Reconfigure the Regions/Language settings for the Windows
  Operating System to register a locale value of en_US rather than
   ko_KR.
