Local fix

Problem summary

  • When attempting to edit and save a data set containing DBCS
(double byte character set) or MBCS (multi byte character set)
characters, data set contents can become corrupted. This can be
seen when viewing the file as shown in IBM Explorer for z/OS, or
CICS Explorer, or when examined using ISPF hex view.
The problem seems more prevalent when shift-in/shift-out
characters are used. Explorer is incorrectly setting the
transfer type back to ASCII, after issueing a TYPE command to
    the FTP connection.
    Additional Keywords: IV47021

Problem conclusion

  • CICS Explorer now only sets ASCII transfer type if the TYPE
command is not issued, or fails.
This fix will be made available in Version 2.1.0.1 of the IBM
Explorer for z/OS, which will be included in Version 5.1.1.1 of
    the CICS Explorer.
