APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• TEMS crash on 64-bit AIX system when 2GB of memory is used.
  
  kdsunx.mak needs to updated to remove this restriction:
  
  line # 55:  KDSMAIN_LK_OPT=-bmaxdata:0x80000000
  
  RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
  The problem reported here was the customer had too many
  situations running.

Local fix

• Workaround was to reduce the number of situations.
  

Problem summary

• The monitoring server on AIX is limited to a 2GB process space.
  
  
  The monitoring server on 64-bit AIX is limited to a 2GB process
  space and will crash if memory beyond 2GB is allocated.
  

Problem conclusion

• The monitoring server for 64-bit AIX is no longer subject to a
  process space size limit.
  
  
  The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
  packages:

Temporary fix

• Increase the process space size of the kdsmain program on AIX to
  3GB using the following commands:
  cd  $CANDLEHOME/aix536/ms/bin
  ldedit -bmaxdata:0xc0000000 ./kdsmain
