APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The repository manager in a partial respository unnecessarily
subscribes to each cluster queue manager that it is aware of.

When using clustered pubslish/subscribe, this causes a
significant increase in the number of subscriptions that are
made, and in large clusters this can cause performance problems.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    USERS AFFECTED:
All clusters are affected although normally the problem is
fairly benign just causing a little extra unnecessary
processing. However, in large Pub/Sub Clusters the extra
processing can be significant and cause performance problems.

    Platforms affected:
All Distributed (iSeries, all Unix and Windows)
    ****************************************************************
    PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The problem is caused by the repository manager unnecessarily
subscribing to each cluster queue manager it knows about. In a
cluster without Pub/Sub this does not cause too much extra
processing but with cluster topics there is a very significant
increase in the number of subscriptions made and in large
clusters can cause a performance problem.

Problem conclusion

  • The extra subscriptions have been removed.
