Error description

  • When a user attempts to display a Historical Baseline in a TEP
chart, the displayed data does not match the selected date.

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Select a few days worth of historical data in the TEP
client. It is important to not use today's date. Choose
    yesterday or a day before.
    2. Add a Historical Baseline.
    3. Mouse-over the data for the Historical Baseline and notice
that it isn't the date from Step 2.

Problem has been observed in 622 and 623 releases.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Data for the wrong date is shown if a historical baseline is set
for a plot chart with a historical timespan ending prior to the
    current day.

If a plot chart is configured for a timespan ending prior to the
current day and a historical baseline is set for a specific or
relative date, the baseline data for a different date will be
shown. The date in the flyover for the baseline points correctly
shows the date of the data. The date in the legend matches the
date requested but does not match the data shown.
Although it is not a change in behavior resulting from the fix,
please note that the historical baseline date must be before the
chart end date. If it is the same or later, no baseline will be
drawn and an error message will appear in the log but there will
be no on-screen message. Because of this restriction for plot
charts ending before the current date, the historical baseline
dialog option to show yesterday's data will never draw a
baseline. The options to show last week's data or data for the
last n days will not draw a baseline for any dates on or later
    than the chart end date.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic was changed to correctly calculate the date for the
historical baseline regardless of whether or not the chart end
    date matches the current date.

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
      | fix pack | 6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0009
      | fix pack | 6.2.3-TIV-ITM-FP0002

Temporary fix

  • Do not set a historical baseline for a plot chart unless its
timespan ends on the current date.
