Error description

  • On ITM 06.22.03.00, an Agent Builder agent defined to be
    multi-instance with "INSTALL_AGENT_TYPE=MULTI-INSTANCE" defined
in the agent .ini file, fails to start when no instance is
specified on the itmcmd agent start command with the following
    message:
KCIIN0201E Specified product is not configured...

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:
Install ITM 06.22.02.00 or earlier OS agent.

    Configure the OS agent.
Create an agent builder agent defined to be multi-instance with
"INSTALL_AGENT_TYPE=MULTI-INSTANCE" defined in the agent .ini
    file.
    Install the agent builder agent.
Configure the agent builder agent and do not specify the -o
    option on the command line.
    Start the OS agent.
Notice it starts and connects to the TEMS.
Start the agent builder agent and do not specify the -o option
    on the command line.
Notice it starts and connects to the TEMS.
Upgrade the OS agent to ITM 06.22.03.00.
    Start the OS agent.
Notice it starts and connects to the TEMS.
Start the agent builder agent and do not specify the -o option
    on the command line.
Notice it fails to start with the following console message:
KCIIN0201E Specified product is not configured...

Local fix

  • If it is intended that this agent is started without specifying
an instance value, then comment out the INSTALL_AGENT_TYPE=
entry in both the agent ini and config files.

Problem summary

  • On UNIX/Linux, multi-instance defined Agent Builder and Agent
Factory agents fail to start when no instance name is provided
with the message "KCIIN0201E Specified product is not
    configured".

If a multi-instance defined Agent Builder or Agent Factory agent
was configured without -o instance, and the configuration file
name does not contain *_instance.config, then starting the agent
without specifying -o instance will fail with the following
    message:
KCIIN0201E Specified product is not configured...

Problem conclusion

  • Multi-instance defined agents now start correctly on UNIX/Linux.
