Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Displaying the Logical Disks view from TEP, the rows for Mount
points which name is longer than 64 characters are not
displayed. Also situations for Logical Disks will not detect
such entries. This apar will work in conjunction with APAR
IZ94770 to provide the support of Mount Points with name longer
than 64 characters and the mount points were defined by using
the "New Simple Volume Wizard" of the Windows Disk Management
interface, and a mount point with such long name was used to
    format a new partiton.

    RECREATE INSTRUCTIONS:

Open Disk Mangement Interface from Control Panel.
Select an unformatted partition and use the "New
Simple Volume Wizard" to create a mount point on
it, with a name longer than 64 characters (including
the path of the mounted directory).
The corresponding row in Logical disks view of TEP
    will not be displayed.

Problem summary

  • When displaying the Logical Disks view from the portal client,
the rows for Mount points with names longer than 64 characters
are not displayed. Also, situations for Logical Disks will not
    detect such entries.

Problem conclusion

  • The code was modified in order to handle mount points with long
names, up to 213 bytes long. The mount points are defined in
the Windows "Control Panel", by using the "New Simple Volume
Wizard" of the Windows Disk Management interface.

This apar will work in conjunction with APAR IZ94770 that
introduced the the new attribute "Disk Name Long" in the
    "Logical Disks" attribute group.

The new attribute can also be used when defining Situations.
In order to display the new attribute in the TEP interface, the
customer is required to define a corresponding view and query.
Note that in some levels of the Operating System (for instance
in Windows XP), the Perfmon utility is displaying the mounted
points in the Logical Disks performance counters as
"harddiskvalue#". In such case, ITM will use this name to
    identify the the mount points.

The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance
    packages:
